HERstory Women’s History Festival

Join us for a vibrant celebration of women’s history, culture, and entrepreneurship at the HERstory Women’s History Festival!

This free, family-friendly community event will be a day filled with storytelling, entertainment, historical site visits, and a showcase of female entrepreneurs. It’s an opportunity to come together, honour the contributions of women, and explore our rich history and culture in a fun and engaging way.

Tentative Festival Schedule:

All Afternoon

  • Grand Opening of The Arcades

  • High Tide Tattoo will be open for walk-ins with special Women's History Month tattoo designs available to be done by Jess Simmons. Stop in and get your flash tattoo!

  • Pop into Surprise Scrapbooking Boutique (12-4 PM, $5 per person) – Have a fun arts & crafts moment! Make your own special event keepsake. (Location: Surprise)

  • Lacquered Lounge Open House – Explore Green Beauty services and products! Plus, join the founders of one of our favorite local skincare companies, Virgin Magnolia, for a meet and greet featuring their amazing products. (Location: Lacquered Lounge)

  • Unsettled Freedom Mural & Visitor Insights – See the Unsettled Freedom mural by Shanna Hollis and meet a Visitor Service Centre Ambassador, who will share insights about the artwork and highlight fun things to do in Bermuda. (Location: Town Square)

  • FREE ENTRY - Mitchell House: Step back in time to the early days of Bermuda at Mitchell House, a Museum operated by the St. George's Historical Society since the 1920s. The house was built in 1731 and remains much as it was nearly 300 years ago. Visit throughout the day for special demos and tours.

  • FREE ENTRY - Gobe Museum: In the heart of the World Heritage Site, you will find Globe Museum in one of Bermuda’s earliest structures.  Within its grand architecture, view films on St. George’s, learn about the island’s early settlement, explore the expansive “Rogues and Runners” exhibit on Bermuda’s role in the US Civil War.

  • Let’s Get Knitting! From 12-2 PM, needles, yarn, instructions, and assistance will be available for you to get a feel for the craft. (Location: Needles Etc.)

  • VKW Henna - Free Small Henna Designs from 12pm - 2pm (Location: The Arcades)

12:30 PM

  • Soapmaking: Learn the art of Soapmaking with Genelle John! Watch a soapmaking demo at 1230pm and 2pm. (Location: Salt Spray Soap Co)

  • Tour: Step back into early Bermuda history at Mitchell House, a museum operated by the St. George’s Historical Society since the 1920s. Built in 1731, the house remains much as it was nearly 300 years ago. Pop in at 12:30 PM or 1:30 PM to see their 18th-century kitchen at work! (Location: Mitchell House)

  • Facepainting by Art by Keile - Bring the kids (and the young at heat!) to enjoy FREE facepainting with Art by Keile (Location: Water Street)

  • Meet the Artist: Jill Raine (Location: Dragon’s Lair Gallery)

  • Talk: Visit State House to learn about two incredible Bermudian women, born centuries apart, who both dared to challenge the status quo. Unchained on the Rock's Liana and Ajala Nanang-Omodele will tell the stories of Sally Bassett and Dame Lois Browne Evans. (Location: State House)

  • Musical Performance: Jade (Location: The Arcades)

  • Meet the Artist: Adrienne Smatt - Watch multi-disciplinary artist Adrienne Smatt at work as she showcases her woodworking talents.

  • Talk: Visit State House to learn about two incredible Bermudian women, born centuries apart, who both dared to challenge the status quo. Unchained on the Rock's Liana and Ajala Nanang-Omodele will tell the stories of Sally Bassett and Dame Lois Browne Evans. (Location: State House)

  • Tour: Meet tour guide Alison Outerbridge on the steps of St. Peter’s Church to learn about the fascinating history of Anne Willing Bingham, a historic American figure. (Location: St. Peter’s Church)

  • Tour: Step back in time to the early days of Bermuda at Mitchell House, a Museum operated by the St. George's Historical Society since the 1920s. Visit at 1230, 130 and 230 to see special demonstrations in the kitchen and printery.

  • Reading & Dialogue: Christie Hunter Arscott, author, Begin Boldly (Location: The Arcades)

  • Tour: Hillcrest - Take a walk to Hillcrest, Bermuda's newest boutique hotel and have a tour of this historic property with the owner, Veronica Gordon. (Meet at The Arcades)

  • Tour: Take a special tour with Kristin White to learn about the connection between two American women who were in Bermuda during the American Civil War. (Location: Long Story Short)

  • Meet the Artist: Diana Fearis (Location: Dragon’s Lair Gallery)

  • Meet the Knitting Club: Pop in to meet members of the weekly Saturday Knitting Club, see their current projects, and get inspired! (Location: Needles Etc)

  • Activity - Soapmaking: Learn the art of Soapmaking with Genelle John! Watch a soapmaking demo at 1230pm and 2pm. (Location: Salt Spray Soap Co)

  • Talk - She Made History: A dialogue hosted by journalist Jasmine Patterson with women who blazed a trail. Katura Horton-Perinchief, First Black Female Olympic Diver and Founder of STAR Diving.

  • Reading & Dialogue: Leah J.M. Dean, author, Assemble the Tribe & Be Different (Location: The Arcades)

  • Tour: Take a walk to Hillcrest, Bermuda's newest boutique hotel and have a tour of this historic property with the owner, Veronica Gordon. (Meet at The Arcades)

  • Poetry Performance: Yesha Townsend (Location: The Arcades)

  • Tarot & Henna: Jas the Gemini will be offering FREE 10 min tarot readings, and small henna designs until 6pm
